Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area and the BLM

Hey all!

I figured I'd fire up my blog again considering I've moved yet again, this time to Newport, OR. After Day 1 of my new internship/apprenticeship with the Bureau of Land Management at Yaquina Head, some things had to be shared.

I spent two hours playing and learning in tide pools. Yeah. Tide pools.

Tomorrow I get a private tour of the Hatfield Marine Science Center and get to visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium, including a behind the scenes tour. There is also time to wander around.

I'm within walking distance (or as a supervisor says: within crawling distance) of the Rogue Brewery HQ. The best chowder in the world is located at The Chowder Bowl in town. Did I mention my boss is taking the interns out for Mexican food for lunch tomorrow?

Today I saw countless seals, a pair of peregrine falcons, touched anemones, chitons, sea stars, and worked with quadrats in the tide pools.

My roommates are also pretty swell, I think it's going to be a great 3 months.

Yeah, my internship/job is pretty awesome.
